What we are demonstrating: The primary phases of the moon (with correct images for north or south hemisphere), based on the calendar system you specify. We also provide you with the name of the moon, and some cases let you know if there is Blue Moon. (Check out July, 2004 Gregorian Calendar, for an example of a Blue Moon. Not all calendar systems will ever see a Blue Moon – defined as the second full moon in a month. Calendars that always start on or very near to the New Moon (such as the Chinese, Hebrew and Islamic) would require a month length of 43-45 days in order for 2 Full moons to exist in the same month. The Bahai Calendar, with its 19 day months would never see a Blue Moon either.
